I question the abilty for headers to add any significant gains in HP.
The stock manifolds are not your typical variety. And you won't burn up your starter, wires etc.. The first cat must go or be replaced by hi flos....just my opinion.
If your going to spend $1,500.00 for headers, make sure you have already bought your DC flash....
There are significant gains to be had with an exhaust system that is designed properly. This is a description of a system I designed and built.
Headers were custom made equal length, stepped 5 into 1 with true merged collectors, coated inside and out.
Two 3" Magnaflow hi flow Cats, rear cats are not used. No check engine light ever set or came on. All o2 sensor bungs are in proper location to cats. 3" in and out and through a
one of a kind Bassani stainless muffler with an X crossover in the muffler. This muffler was a true 3" all the way through. (The Magnaflow necks down to 2.5" in the center.)
Magnaflow stainless dual exhaust pipes. The ones used on the Magnaflow Cat back system for the Ram SRT-10.
The entire system and headers were Tig welded.
This system was held together with 6 stainless V band clamps and uses the stock hangers. This system made
44 more RWHP on the same Dyno (West Coast Viper) with no other changes. 406 before and 450 after RWHP. The torque curve is very broad and flat. That is the great thing about stepped headers. No other exhaust system has made more proven dyno horsepower and torque than this one.
The Hp and torque gains were with no other mods. I did not have a high performance program. The gains would have been significently greater with a VEC or HP Flash. I designed this system to work with a blower. But even without blower it made a .35 difference in ET and was good for 2.5 MPH in the 1/4 mile times. A good system will make more power regardless of other mods. If properly designed it will enhance other mods greatly.........Jack
